"Day Out With Thomas™" A Spring Event for the whole family. Click here to see the pictures of the Thomas the Tank Engine weekend Thomas the Tank Engine, star of Thomas & Friends™, on PBS KIDS® and PBS KIDS SproutSM visits the railway for three weekends each spring. For 66 years, children have been captivated by the courageous adventures of Thomas and his engine friends and He comes to life during this unique, interactive family experience with puffing steam & the smell of coal smoke at the Wales West Light Railway. The Wales West Light railway is the only railway on the Gulf Coast were families can come to a Day Out With Thomas to take a ride with a narrow gauge replica of everybody’s favorite #1 engine, Thomas the Tank Engine. The railway goes all out to decorate for this event. There are Thomas-themed activities at the Imagination Station, including stamps, temporary tattoos and hands-on arts and crafts all located in or near the main train station. Sir Topham Hatt will be there to greet everyone and pose for photos. There are also food vendors, model railroad displays, miniature train rides, a hay bale maze, inflatable slides, playgrounds, live music, and much more to keep everyone busy for hours. Some of the activities you can expect are listed bellow--------- A 25-minute (approximate) ride with Thomas the Tank Engine The opportunity to meet Sir Topham Hatt™, Controller of the Railway A Thomas & Friends Imagination Station; featuring stamps, temporary tattoos, hands-on arts and crafts activities and coloring sheets. Storytelling, video viewing and live music Merchandise tent filled with exclusive Thomas cloths, toys, balloons, and more.

Wales West Miniature Railway Spring Steam-up This event has been cancelled for 2011 If you like a wide variety of trains, steam whistles, old engines, antique tractors, train & equipment related vendors, and vintage cars then this event will put a smile on your face. The members of the "Three Gauge Club" put this event on each spring as a fund raiser and membership drive. There is no admission charge to enter the park and all the miniature train rides are free. The club ask only that you put a donation in the box if you like what you see. You can also join the club for $30.00 a year. By joining the club you will receive discounted gift shop privileges, discounted train tickets, and e-mail up-dates on club activities.

SUMMER ADVENTURES May 1st. thru August 31st. Children that love to swim and play will have a blast on a summer adventure to The Wales West Light Railway and Lake Victoria. With a real train to ride on the children will travel in style. There is a waterfall, lakeside swim area, indoor pool and arts and crafts, and two playgrounds to keep them busy. To top it all off you can have a picnic in the playground before you go. If the weather is being less than perfect no problem. We can move the whole adventure indoors! Rain or shine this summer package is affordable fun for all.

PUMPKIN PATCH EXPRESS
The Wales West Light Railway pulls out all the stops with this program. The train is totally decorated for Halloween along with extensive decorations throughout the park. The activities building at "Chapel Halt" is turned into a giant "Haunted Barn" with a handicap accessible indoor spook house. Dozens of theme blowups line the tracks along with a large assortment of fantastic Halloween decorations all over the grounds and in the main station. Everyone that buys a ticket receives a round trip train ride, visit through the spook house, a pumpkin from the Pumpkin Patch behind the Haunted Barn, a chance to decorate your pumpkin at the Art Table, and a snack at the main train station.

GHOUL FAMILY NIGHT TRAIN
Oct. 1st through Oct. 31st: Fri, Sat, Sun's, 5 - 9 PM Oct. 1st through Oct. 31st: Thurs., Fri, Sat, Sun, 5 - 9 PM (Daytime train for younger children runs Sat's and Sun's Oct. 1 thru 31st, 1 - 5 PM) This event is designed for older children and adults. Parents please be aware that some of the activities may be to scary for young children.
Trick or treat! A ride on the "Ghoul Family Express" along a mile of haunted track will take your breath away. The totally decorated train travels through one haunted spot after the next as it makes it's way to the "Haunted Barn". Beware of the different monsters that like to visit the passengers as the train goes by. The whole route is decorated and illuminated with thousands of lights and hundreds of decorations. The train stops at the "Haunted Barn" were you can visit the "Spook House" and select a pumpkin from the "Haunted Patch" if you dare. To end the adventure cookies and monster punch will be available at the main station for anyone that survives the trip! Feel free to wear a costume for the occasion. |

Wales West Miniature Railway Fall Steam-up October 9th. & 10th. This is a "FUN IN THE FALL" event that takes place along side our fantastic Halloween event. Hobbyist bring their miniature trains from far and wide to enjoy the Fall weather and totally decorated park. You can ride all the miniature trains for free. All the "Three Gauge Club" ask is that if you enjoy the trains please drop a donation in the box. Your donations make it possible for the club to operate and expand this unique railway and spread more joy! The "Pumpkin Patch Express" will also be operating (ticket required) for those of you that want to experience all the fantastic decorations, haunted barn, pumpkin patch, and refreshments the Wales West Light Railway has come to be known for. |

ARCTIC EXPRESS Nov 25th. thru December 24th. Weekdays for groups by appointment. Weekends 1PM. till 9PM. Dec.13th. thru Dec. 24th. Daily 4PM. till 9PM. If this event does not invoke a feeling of "JOY" in you then seek professional help immediately! This event has become an annual family outing for a lot of people. You can hunt far and wide for a Christmas event to bring the family to but none will be as unique as our "Arctic Express". We turn our already fantastic Welsh Victorian railway into a Christmas wonderland. There are well over 1,000,000 lights, thousands of decorations, and numerous blow-ups in all the buildings, along the tracks, and all over the grounds. The totally decorated train travels through a wonderland of 3D lighted displays and passes one Christmas display after the other on it's way to the "North Pole" for a visit with Santa. When you de-train at the "North Pole" you will find "Santa" waiting for you in his cozy little cottage inside the fully decorated activities barn. As part of the child's visit Santa will give each child either a handmade wooden toy loco or whistle that they can decorate at the "Art Table". After the toys are decorated everyone re-boards the train and chuffs back to the main station past even more Christmas lights. At the station everyone can enjoy a snack of hot coco, candy canes, and cookies in the party tent next to the station. This is also an excellent time to find a train related gift in our gift shop while the children play with the Thomas The Tank tables in the tent.

COTTON TAIL EXPRESS March 17th. thru April 7th. Weekdays by appointment. Weekends 1PM. till 5PM. Here at the Wales West Light Railway we believe in the Easter Bunny. Come take a ride on our totally decorated train and enjoy all the Easter decorations. There are blow-ups and displays all along the tracks and in the buildings. When the children reach their destination at the Easter Village they will find the "Easter Bunny" waiting for them in her Bunny Hutch". She will pose with the children then give them their very own basket and take them to the egg patch for an Easter Egg Hunt. After the hunt the children will have a chance to decorate their eggs at the "Art Table" and play a bit longer with the Bunny before re-boarding the train for the return trip to the main station. The children will then snack on cookies, juice, and an Easter candy treat.
